At first Gavin can come across as distant, and prickly. He is usually polite but curt with strangers, and it takes a very long time for him to open up.
He is suspicious and overcautious by nature, often preferring to keep his distance and observe rather than risk an unfriendly encounter. 

He has a very bleak outlook on things and if he cracks a joke it tends to be on the macabre side. To those who don't know him, his comments and advice often prove to be unsettling or even taken as a threat.

Gavin can be caring in his own way, he often shows affection by way of gifts he deems to be practical, he might offer to install a security camera in someone's house or give them a can of pepper spray. He has a tendency to become overprotective or clingy towards those he cares about. 

He is stubbornly independent, only begrudgingly working at a supermarket in order to pay for what he can't grow or source himself. Over the few years he's been in Indieville he has installed solar panels, a rainwater tank, and planted a sizable vegetable garden on his property. He's currently gathering the resources for a chicken coop, determined not to be dependent on the local government for anything.

■ Background:

Born deep underground, and raised in a culture of elves who live their whole lives in perfect darkness. The parts of his upbringing he can recall were rough and cold, and contributed to his remarkably high pain tolerance. However Gavin's memories prior to the 1980s are forever muddled, due to some head trauma. He still wears a deep scar on the back on his skull to prove it. It's for this reason perhaps that Gavin can't find the entrance to his old civilization.

Emerging on the surface, Gavin was picked up by a kindly(well somewhat) survivalist in Canada called Bourke, he avoided bleeding out on the snow and found a new friend who taught him how to live up above.

Gavin traveled after that, struggling to find a place to settle down where he wasn't gawked at or abused for his appearance.
Indieville seemed like a good place!

- He keeps the silver cross pendant because it has the dual purpose of repelling both vampires and werewolves, he is not at all religious.
